PeerLogix Announces Worldwide OTT/Streaming Movie Viewership Data for Summer 2018

NEW YORK, NY, Oct. 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via NEWMEDIAWIRE -- PeerLogix, Inc. (OTCQB:LOGX), the audience discovery platform recognized as the standard in tracking Over-the-Top ("OTT") data across Smart-TV, desktop and mobile, today announced estimated viewership for the top-15 streamed films for the period including June, July and August of 2018.

Leveraging patented technology, PeerLogix is able to observe, capture and catalog world-wide consumer viewership data across streaming platforms and in real-time. The company then makes this data available to advertisers, allowing them to create and target customized audience segments based on categories that can focus on title, actor/actress, genre or other viewing habits. When combined with traditional television viewership data, these rich OTT segments allow advertisers to target a virtually reunified and holistic TV audience.

"In today's fragmented world of content consumption, a movie's ability to drive advertising revenue through box office success and traditional cable release is really only a part of the story," said William Gorfein, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of PeerLogix. "With so much growth in OTT adoption, a movie's advertising life is now extended significantly, with streaming viewership sometimes becoming a great equalizer, creating opportunities for advertisers to reach audiences that may not have existed before."

PeerLogix makes available approximately 250 film and television audience segments in the programmatic ecosystem - including many for films on this list. By leveraging LiveRamp's Data Store, or any of the Company's other prominent DSP and DMP integrations, advertisers are harnessing OTT consumption data to supplement limited OTT inventory available to most agencies and to extend the reach of entertainment advertising to otherwise unreachable streaming audiences.

Walt Disney's ‘Avengers: Infinity Wars' leads the world-wide summer OTT wars, being viewed by over 3 million streaming households. Second place went to the straight-to-DVD release Sylvester Stallone vehicle, ‘Escape Plan 2' which was streamed in almost 2.5 million homes, while the third place finisher was ‘Rampage' starring Dwayne Johnson, seen in just under 2.4 million streaming households.

Two of the top 15 world-wide OTT streamed movies during the three month Summer season were offerings from Bollywood, ‘Sanju' (taking the 7thposition) and ‘Raazi' (coming in at number 14), perhaps confirming a recent Deloitte report finding that the current $109 million Indian OTT industry is expected to double to $218 million by 2020.

Also making the top 15 list of streamed movies were two entries considered ‘bombs' at the traditional box office. ‘Overboard," the gender-bending remake of the Goldie Hawn/Kurt Russel 1987 comedy was the 12thmost streamed movie of the Summer - streamed by just under one million global households, while the Dwayne Johnson action movie, ‘Skyscraper,' was watched in its OTT format by just under 750 thousand households.
